Every now and then, I’ll try and make a pattern from another designer and then write about it on my blog. In that way, I hope you might discover some awesome crochet designers, and it also gives the designer the opportunity to reach out to a new audience. I also get to make new things, so it’s a win-win!

When I follow a pattern it’s kind of like reading a book with a different theme that gives you new input on things. It’s so fun following other people’s patterns every now and then! Don’t get me wrong, designing crochet patterns is fun and rewarding, but sometimes it can take the fun out of crochet.

The Cozy Chipmunk

This week I want to introduce Laura from The Cozy Chipmunk. She is a talented designer who focuses on amigurumis. Her designs are sweet, quick and easy to make.

Just my cup of tea!

I’ve gotten to know Laura over Instagram and through Facebook chats. We even test each others pattern from time to time. She is such a sympathetic and friendly soul and I am so glad I have gotten to know her!

This is a very crafty young lady, not only does she crochet the cutes amigurumi, but she also makes stunning pottery too! You can read all about it on her blog.

Time for a tea party

If you want to make this cute set, you will need these things.:

  • Safety Eyes

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been making this cute crochet tea party set. At first, Laura posted the patter for this cute Lil Cuppa. A week after, the Lil Cocoa cup came out. Of course, I HAD to have that too!

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any cuter she made a teapot as well! I love this set and it was so fun making it!

    Lil Cuppa

The first pattern I made was Lil Cuppa. For all three projects, I used my favorite cotton yarn from Schachenmayr called Catania. This is a sports weight yarn. I used a 2.5 mm and a 3.0 mm crochet hook.

I like this yarn because it adds a nice shimmer to the amigurumi. It’s also easy to work with and it doesn’t split. You can also use a worsted weight yarn for this project, which gives is a soft and squishy look.

This little cup is so quick to make, and you can sitch one up while watching your favorite show.

    Lil Cocoa

The second pattern is this cute mug with chocolate and cute marshmallows on top. I adjusted the pattern a little and make a row of single crochet and bobble stitch here to make it look like whipped cream. You know, I love the bobble stitches and include them whenever I can.

This cute cup was also very easy to make would make a beginner-friendly project!

I really like how this turned out and this is one of my favorite patterns!

    Lil Teapot

Now there can’t be a party without a teapot, can there? Meet Lil Teapot, the final addition to the tea party set!

The Lil Teapot was also very simple to make, I think I completed the whole pattern on a Saturday morning. I find that the teapot completes the set!

All the patterns in crochet tea party set were very easy to follow and quick to make. I can imagine that this would make a cute little homemade gift for little girls and boys who want to play tea party!

    Have fun crocheting!

    Hugs, Ragnhild
