It is such a simple and fun pattern and it works up really fast! You make the ice cream simply by crocheting two panels. After making the panels, you add a round of bobble stitches and face on the one side. On the backside, I’ve designed a little pocket for the key. This is also made in one piece.

Afterwards, the parts are placed on top of each other and crocheted together with single crochet. Now the only thing that’s left is the popsicle which is made in spiral rounds.

German pattern

You can find the German translation on Etsy! (English anslo available). I am also working on a Norwegian translation.

The design process

I wanted to make another ragdoll pattern, and first I made a pattern for ice cream. The original piece was much bigger than the little keychain you see in the picture. It was cute, but a little boring, it didn’t have any sprinkles or extra features, so I decided to add some.

It’s fun to crochet little cute things, but more fun when they can have a practical use!

To add a little extra cuteness factor, I’ve added big eyes. On the bigger ice cream with the pink cream, I’ve added eyelashes. The little purple one has gotten some eyebrows.

The size can easily be adjusted by changing the size on the hook. You can also use the small one as a key chain. I added different colors and added sprinkles.

There is also a little pocket on the back side for the key.

The yarn

I used a yarn called Catania from Schachenmayr. It’s a 5ply, sport yarn and it has a nice shimmer to it. You can also use a worsted weight yarn. However, if you are looking for a great match check out Yarnsub.
