  • Ch-chain
  • Rnd–round
  • St–stitch
  • Sc–single crochet
  • Sc dec–single crochet decrease
  • Sc inc–single crochet increase, 2 single crochet in one stitch
  • Hdc-Half double crochet
  • Dc-double crochet
  • Tr-treple crochet
  • Mr–magic ring
  • Sk-skip
  • *-* - Repeat action
  • Materials
  • I used Hobbii Honey bunny in this pattern. Yarn weight: Super bulky yarn
  • Colors: White, blue, and pink.
  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • 1 pair of safety 20 mm
  • 1 pair of safety eyes 12 mm

Instructions

The head and body

Work in continuous rounds.

Use a stitch marker and move it up as you go.

Crocheted from the bottom up to the head.

In white

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a mr = 6 sc

Rnd 2: sc inc x 6 = 12 sc

Rnd 3: (1 sc, sc inc) x 6 = 18 sc

Rnd 4: (2 sc, sc inc) x 6 = 24 sc

Rnd 5: (3 sc, sc inc) x 6 = 30 sc

Rnd 6: (4 sc, sc inc) x 6 = 36 sc

Rnd 7: (5 sc, sc inc) x 6 = 42 sc

Change the color to blue. Pull through with the new color when finishing the last single crochet for a nice color transition.

Rnd 8-15) 1 sc in each stitch for 8 rounds = 42 sc

Rnd 16: (5 sc, sc dec) x 6 = 36 sc

Rnd 17: (4 sc, sc dec) x 6 = 30 sc

Place safety eyes between rounds 8-9, just after the color change with 7 sc space apart.

Rnd 18: (3 sc, sc dec) x 6 = 24 sc

Add stuffing.

Rnd 19: (2 sc, sc dec) x 6 = 18 sc

Rnd 20: (1 sc, sc dec) x 6 = 12 sc

Rnd 21: Sc dec x 6. = 6 sc

Sl st into the first st and finish off. Sew the hole closed.

Sew on a mouth and a nose with some pink yarn.

Add some white yarn on the side of the eyes for extra details.

Side fins

In blue

Make 2.

In a mr. Ch 2. 2 tr, 2 dc, 2 hdc. Sl st into the ring and finish off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail

In blue

Make 1.

In a mr. Ch 2. 2 tr, 2 dc, 2 hdc. Sl st into the ring. Repeat: Ch 2, 2 tr, 2 dc, 2 hdc. Sl st into the ring and leave a long tail for sewing.

Sea Star
In pink.

Make a mr, make 10 sc in the ring. * Ch 6, sl st into the 2. ch from the hook. 2 hdc, 2 dc, skip the next st: Sl st into the sc*. Repeat 4 more times until you have 5 arms. Sl st to finish off. Leave a long tail for sewing. Place the safety eyes in the middle where the 10 sc are. Place the eyes close to each other.

Assembly

Sew the side fins 3 stitches apart from the eyes. Attach the back fin on the back. Sew on the sea star on the head. Embroider on a mouth between the eyes.
