When first learning how to crochet, everything can seem a bit overwhelming. That’s why it’s essential to start with something easy, like how to crochet the single crochet.

When first discovering crocheting, it is easy to want to start to make ALL the things and buy ALL the yarn.


I know. I’ve been there. Coming to think of it, the thing with wanting to purchase all the yarn never went away, though.

The crochet tools for beginners

There are also other things to consider, like which tools to get and what you should get when first learning to crochet.

If this is the first time you are crocheting, then it doesn’t make sense to invest in the most expensive crochet hooks or get all the hook sizes. Go for a 4 or 5 mm hook in the beginning. In my opinion, they have the perfect size for beginners.

The yarn

Yarn comes in all colors and qualities. It is easy to go wild in the store, and at some point, you probably will. You could go for a yarn that doesn’t split so easily. Check out the video below where I explain this.

The single crochet
