Did I mention that this owl is fast to make as well? Owls can be used for decoration all year long! Since it’s closed to Christmas when we are releasing this pattern, I will hang mine in the tree. Later this year, my owl gets to hang out somewhere else.

I love owls! They are such intelligent creatures! My cat, Lily, sometimes looks like a snow owl. She has white fur and that sassy look that cats and owls share.

Owl facts

Did you know that there are over 220 owl species in the world? I did not know that there are so many!

They can turn their head almost all the way around, but not completely. However, they can turn their head to either side for 135 degrees.

They don’t insure their heads because they have a blood boiling system that powers their brains and eyes during the twist.

The owl has also the best night vision of all animals!

Amigurumi owl

Since owls are forbidden to keep as pets in most countries, we have to settle with the ones we can make ourselves. So you have many reasons to crochet some!

amigurumi owl

This is a very easy pattern, but I hope to make a little more complicated one next year.

I wanted this pattern to be beginner-friendly and quick to make. I hope that you like it too and that you can find some time to stitch up an owl or two during the holidays.

The materials

As usual, you only need a yarn, hook, safety eyes (you can also sew on eyes), stuffing, and a little time to finish this cute owl.

You can also change the colors and make it more interesting if you wish to.

You only need about 10 g of yarn for one owl, so this is a perfect pattern for those leftovers. I used sports weight yarn for mine, but you can use worsted weight too. My owl is made with a 3 mm crochet hook.

If you want to make a bigger owl, just use thicker yarn and a bigger hook.
